3GA Marine Ltd is a marine engineering and consulting firm providing technical design, project support, and advisory services to the Canadian marine industry.Position Overview
We are seeking Senior Naval Architects to support ongoing and upcoming vessel design and refit projects. This is a predominantly office-based role focused on engineering design, analysis, documentation, and project delivery. This position is not sea-going or vessel-based.Available Positions
- One Senior Naval Architect position based in Burnaby, BC
Key Responsibilities
- Lead naval architecture work on vessel new build and refit projects
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports
- Review designs for compliance with regulatory and classification requirements
- Coordinate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate staff
- Support construction phases and attend site visits or surveys as required
- Apply sound engineering judgment to resolve technical issues
Required Qualifications
- College degree in Naval Architecture or closely related discipline
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in a design office or shipyard environment
- Experience with vessel refits and/or new vessel design
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada, or eligible for registration
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Technical Skills (Preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of GHS
- Experience with ShipConstructor, Rhino, AutoCAD, or similar marine design software
- Familiarity with hydrostatics, stability, and general vessel arrangements
- Knowledge of Canadian marine regulatory and classification frameworks

We are currently hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our marine engineering design offices in Victoria, BC. This is a non-seagoing, office-based mechanical engineering position focused on marine mechanical systems design, engineering analysis, regulatory compliance, and project delivery for commercial vessel new build and refit projects. The successful candidate will bring strong experience in marine mechanical systems and will play a senior technical role supporting multidisciplinary project teams.Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical engineering work on vessel new build and refit projects
- Design, analyze, and review marine mechanical systems, including propulsion, piping, HVAC, steering, and auxiliary systems
- Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
- Ensure designs comply with Canadian marine regulations and classification society requirements
- Coordinate with project managers, naval architects, clients, shipyards, and other engineering disciplines
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers
- Support construction and refit phases, including site visits and surveys as required
- Apply sound professional engineering judgment to resolve technical and regulatory issues
Required Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in a marine engineering design office or shipyard environment
- Proven experience with vessel refits and/or new vessel design projects
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Canada, or eligible for registration
- Strong technical writing, reporting, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Skills and Technical Experience
- Strong understanding of marine mechanical systems and vessel arrangements
- Experience with propulsion systems, piping design, and machinery integration
- Familiarity with Transport Canada, classification society rules, and Canadian marine regulatory frameworks
- Experience with marine CAD and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, or similar)
- Experience working on commercial vessels is considered an asset
