									<p>CCGS John P. Tully is an offshore oceanographic science vessel in the Canadian Coast Guard. She was built by Bel-Air Shipyards in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1985. The ship has been employed on joint research voyages with a variety of United States agencies, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She is staffed by a crew of 20. She is under 70 meters long.</p><p>She is named after Dr. John P. Tully, often regarded as the ‘Father of West Coast Oceanography’ in Canada.</p><p>In September 2009, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans announced invitations for contracts to replace several Canadian Coast Guard research vessels.[3] According to the Canadian American Strategic Review four smaller research vessels, CCGS Teleost, CCGS W.E. Ricker, CCGS Wilfred Templeman and CCGS William Needler, will be replaced with three new vessels. The new vessels are scheduled to be completed in 2011 or 2012, and will be about the same size as John P. Tully.</p><p>3GA Marine Ltd. will develop technical data specifications to strengthen the flight deck to enable operations with the Ranger Helicopter.</p>								</div>

									<p>January 30th 2017</p><p>Ship Owners Benefit from 3GA Marine Ltd collaboration with <a href="https://www.alfalaval.ca/">Alfa Laval.</a></p><p>3GA Marine Ltd has announced collaboration with Alfa Laval to provide engineered turn-key solutions which will support ship owners in their response to the IMO’s Ballast Water Management Regulations.</p><p>David Stocks, President of 3GA Marine, comments: “The retro-fitting of ballast water treatment systems in existing vessels is challenging because of their size and required capacity to maintain ballast operations.<br />It can also prove to be complex in integrating the system with existing systems and congested machinery room spaces. 3GA utilize 3D laser scanning and modelling technology to gain accurate representation of as-built structures and surrounding systems which significantly reduces refit project risk.”</p><p>3GA have entered into a partnering agreement with Alfa Laval, the world leading supplier of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) and have qualified as a trusted engineering partner under their worldwide supplier network. Working together with Alfa Laval, 3GA provides the 3D scanning technology, system survey and modeling data, marine systems engineering, structural engineering and naval architectural services that are required to determine the feasibility of retrofitting a BWTS; detailed design for installation of the system that integrates with existing ship structure and piping and an oversight of the installation in<br />a commissioning representative and site engineering role.<br />Dan McIntyre, 3GA’s principal marine engineer and scanning lead explains: “This collaboration of at ship naval architecture and marine engineering will allow for the integration of IMO and USCG approved Alfa Laval PureBallast systems to be managed in an efficient and accurate manner. 									<p>BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has launched their first of four new cable ferries on March 22, 2017.</p><p>David Mietla of 3GA Marine Ltd. provides the role of an Owner’s Engineer and Representative during this project. 									<p class="has-medium-font-size">Senior Naval Architect – Victoria, BC</p><p>As our Senior Naval Architect, you will bring your high degree of technical knowledge and innovative engineering experience to our Victoria office to provide turnkey solutions for various clients. You will be primarily responsible for all aspects of engineering design of new design and vessel refits from concept through to implementation. Projects vary in complexity and size, small equipment installations to whole vessel detail design.</p><p>Responsibilities/Duties:<br />• Work directly with stakeholders and project managers in the planning and execution of technical activities on a variety of complex projects related to vessel (ship) and technical product development.<br />• Oversee intermediate and junior level staff in all aspects of Naval Architecture.<br />• Oversee projects as a project manager on a variety of projects, new vessel design to refits.<br />• Prepare project plans and work specifications for each individual vessel.<br />• Perform design, documentation, analysis and modeling tasks using appropriate software packages.<br />• Review design documents to achieve customer, Classification Society and regulatory approval.<br />• Oversees various stages of the construction process, as assigned. Solves problems and makes recommendations as appropriate.<br />• Ability to undertake onsite vessel surveys (condition surveys, lightship surveys, inclining experiments) including vertical ladder ascent and descent, accessing confined spaces and heights.</p><p>Education and Experience:<br />• Degree in Naval Architecture.<br />• Registered or are eligible to register as Professional Engineer with the appropriate provincial engineering body.<br />• Minimum 10+ years in a design office / shipyard with project management skills experience in refit/new vessel projects.<br />• Familiarity with BC marketplace for ship operators and or ferry operators an asset.</p><p>Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies:<br />• Strong technical writing skills including the ability to produce and present clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.<br />• Expert knowledge with GHS. Working knowledge of ShipConstructor, Rhino and ACAD software.
